Childbirth Education Course

Galveston Birth Center offers a one-day, condensed, childbirth education course taught by Melissa White, BSN, CNM and Lourdes Resendez, doula, student midwife.

Join us and get the scoop on pregnancy, labor, and birth from the perspectives of a former labor and delivery nurse turned midwife and a doula.

Course topics include anatomy and physiology of labor and birth, nutrition, exercise, choosing your birth team, preparing your body for labor, coping techniques for pain, positions for labor and birth, hospital procedures and evidence based information on interventions, postpartum care, breastfeeding, baby care basics, and more. This course is for families choosing home, birth center, or hospital birth.

 

The course is taught on a Saturday from 9:00am – 5:30pm. The investment is $250/couple, and includes a light breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and course materials.

Childbirth Class

We offer a childbirth education class to share knowledge regarding pregnancy, labor, birth, the postpartum period, and newborn care.

Labor & Birth

You can choose to birth in your own home or in our luxury birthing suite while being supported by our caring midwives.

Childbirth Education Course 6
Postpartum

The Midwives will guide you through your postpartum period while you are adjusting to life with your newest addition.

Placenta Encapsulation

Galveston Birth Center is the island's only location that has an OSHA-compliant area dedicated to placenta processing.
